Bringing It All Together: The Story Behind Our New Defect Module

While we’ve discussed the idea of integrating defect data had been discussed internally for years, the integration was waiting for the right moment. One key reason? Most customers already had established defect management systems in place, and there was little urgency to adopt something new. We had already integrated inline test, yield, equipment and product test data for our customers, and it was always our plan to integrate the defect data as well. However, the users were reluctant to switch from established tools to something new.

That started to change last year.

It became clear through conversations with customers that the longstanding divide between yield and defect data wasn’t serving anyone well. It wasn’t just inefficient – it was limiting. Engineers needed to stop switching platforms and start connecting the dots between inspection results and yield loss, faster and more intuitively.

That shift in demand reignited our plans. Over the following months, we worked closely with several clients to shape a new module around their needs. The result is the Defect Module – now live and already in use at multiple customer sites.

The Defect Module integrates defect inspection data and images directly into YieldWatchDog, alongside test and tool data. Engineers can now track key metrics like defect density, kill ratio, and defect trends – all from within the same environment they already use daily. Interactive wafer maps, inspection layer navigation, and image overlays allow deeper correlation and faster root cause analysis.

This isn’t just another feature add-on. It’s a continuation of DR YIELD’s core goal: to provide one unified platform that brings everything together, from raw data to actionable insight.

If you’re managing data across multiple tools and feeling the friction, this might be the update you’ve been waiting for.
